THE Case study

Overview & My Role

A project focused on creating a unified visual narrative across print and digital platforms. The objective was to deliver a high-performance, responsive WordPress site that perfectly mirrored the elegance of the couple’s custom physical invitations. As a result, the site provides a modern and smooth experience for their guests.

Bespoke Invitation Design: Developed the core visual motif for the physical wedding stationery.

Integration: Generated and integrated QR codes for the invitations to bridge the physical-to-digital guest journey.

The Challenge

Achieving Visual Continuity

The primary goal was to ensure that the magic of the wedding’s physical motif wasn’t lost when transitioning to a screen. Many couples struggle with a digital gap – where their website feels generic compared to their beautiful stationery. To solve this, I combined simplicity and elegance with a modern, smooth touch. Consequently, the website feels like a natural continuation of the couple’s love story.

A Note on Privacy: To respect my clients’ privacy, the names, dates, and locations featured in the presented images and linked demo have been changed to fictional information. While the content is anonymised, the visual design, responsive architecture, and interactive RSVP functionality are identical to the bespoke suite delivered to the couple.

The Strategic Approach

Designing for Harmony

To achieve a bespoke web experience, I followed a structured design-to-development workflow:

Visual Alignment: By starting with the invitation design, we established a “visual DNA” (fonts, colors, and motifs) that informed every pixel of the website.
UX-Focused Minimalism: The site was designed to be light and fast. By removing unnecessary clutter to keep the focus on essential wedding details and the guest experience.
Clear Scope: We defined the guest journey early—from receiving the physical invite and scanning the QR code to completing the digital RSVP.

The technical solution

Implementation

The objective was to transform a static design into a scrollable, responsive digital narrative that provided a seamless guest experience. This required a high-performance stack capable of handling complex visual transitions while maintaining a secure environment for guests to explore wedding details and submit RSVPs via a protected gateway.

Bespoke WordPress Child Theme Architecture: To ensure a stable and update-proof environment, I developed a custom WordPress Child Theme. This allowed for the injection of custom code directly into the site’s core, avoiding the bloat of third-party plugins and providing complete control over the site’s performance and functionality.
Animation with GSAP: Integrated the GSAP library to orchestrate the site’s visual effects. This ensured the “modern and smooth touch” of the narrative remained performant across all devices without compromising load times.
Secure Access Control (Anti-Spam): I implemented a password-protected RSVP gateway to shield the couple from unsolicited entries and random spam.
Responsive Narrative Engineering: Used fluid grid layouts and custom media queries to ensure the storytelling scaled perfectly. The visual hierarchy and GSAP animations were optimised for mobile-first delivery, ensuring guests had a polished experience even on lower-bandwidth mobile connections.
Logistics & Deployment: Managed the technical connection to the client’s custom domain. Generated QR code for the physical invitations, creating a 1:1 technical link between the print and the digital platform.
